First Weeks in Paris
We work several days a week at the Saint Marri Family Search Center, which is in the center of the Marais district of Paris, a few blocks from this beautiful buiding, Hotel de Ville, the Paris City Hall.We made it to the France Paris Mission! We have a beautiful apartment in Le Pecq, which is a block from the Seine and an hour of walking and riding a train from the center of Paris. We attended the Paris Temple and enjoyed the beautiful grounds (just down the street from the over-the-top Palace of Versailles). Today we attended the Paris South Stake Conference, which was held in an auditorium right next door to the Palace of Versailles, It was a spiritual feast.
And on our preparation day we climbed the Arc de Triomphe and enjoyed the view.
My French is at the intermediate level, so I read and pronounce well but I understand little. Phil's French is coming back to him, though. He understands much better, so he is the one to talk to people in the Family Search Center, and I smile and look on.
We are doing presentations in ward councils and wards about self-reliance classes. This is the biggest assignment of our mission. We have gone to the Evry Ward in the Paris area, and in a few weeks we will go to the Vannes Ward in Brittany.
Beautiful. We sure love you two!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this posting. It's wonderful to see your pictures, and learn how you are contributing. Love and blessings to you both!
ReplyDeleteSo great to catch up with you! Its wonderful to see you in France and to hear about all you are doing! And just so you know, Delys, I have been in Argentina 3 months now, and Mark's Spanish is coming back quite well, and I can read and pronounce Spanish well--but I also spend most of my time smiling and looking on--especially when I have no idea what people are saying. I am working on it!
